Who is Tanya Bugbee?
Before I was a coach, I was someone who kept saying yes to the next hard thing.
At 26, I earned my pilot's license and flew planes in Maine. Before that, I decided a sailboat in the tropics sounded more interesting than anything else on offer, so I lived aboard for eight years, flipped boats along the way, fixing them up and selling them, and wrote about all of it for Cruising World magazine. I have never been someone who needed the path to be clear before I started moving.
In between all of that, I trained corporate teams at Jenny Craig, moved to Florida, then Texas, then San Diego, then Bend, Oregon. Each time I landed somewhere new, I figured it out. Three states, three markets, top-producing real estate agent in all of them, including a year I closed 58 deals as a single mom. Not because I had it together. Because I refused to stop.
I was not someone who needed encouragement. I needed someone who would tell me the truth.
That someone was a coach. She sat me down, said the things nobody else had been willing to say, and everything clicked. Not because the information was new. Because the honesty was. I thought, "Oh. That is what has been missing."
That moment is why I do this work. Not the credentials, not the closings, not the magazine bylines. The moment when a conversation changes the trajectory. That is the room I want to be in. That is the room I built.
I do not wear a tie. I do not have a script. And I will never hand you a binder and call it a plan.
What I have is 15 years inside this industry, more than 900 clients, and a life that has required me to actually navigate, not just plan. Out on the water at 2am in the dark, you either know where you are going or you are in serious trouble. There is no winging it. No circling back. No second draft.
I coach exactly the same way. Direct. Clear. No fluff. And completely in your corner.
“I am not going to tell you what you want to hear. You have enough people doing that already.”
Here is what I will do. I will look at your actual business, not the version you describe at networking events, and tell you exactly what is in the way. It is probably not what you think. It is almost never what you think.
900+ clients in. Still not wrong about that.
Why Clients Hire Tanya
I have flown planes, lived on a sailboat, flipped boats for profit, and closed 58 deals in one year as a single mom. None of that makes me a good coach.
What makes me a good coach is that I have sat across from hundreds of Realtors who were working too hard and earning too little, and I could see exactly why, and I told them. Most people in this industry will not do that. I will.
I did not become a coach because I had it all figured out. I became one because someone finally told me the truth about my business and it changed everything. I have never forgotten what that felt like.
That is why I show up the way I do. Direct. Prepared. Completely invested in what happens to you. Not your numbers. You.
How I Became A Coach
That first coaching session wrecked me. In the best possible way.
I was a good Realtor. Thought I had it figured out. Then someone sat across from me and said the things nobody else had been willing to say, about my numbers, my habits, my blind spots , and I remember sitting there thinking why has nobody told me this before. What else have I been missing.
“ I spent the next decade inside one of the largest real estate coaching organizations in the country figuring out the answer to that question. Coached hundreds of agents, brokers, lenders, and team leaders. Watched what worked and what did not. Then went independent because the best work I could do was never going to fit inside someone else's system.”
Best decision I ever made. Ask my clients.

The Moment I Know Why I Do This
She was a high producer. Making real money. And completely drowning.
She was the entire engine of her business, every transaction, every follow-up, every fire. Her kids were going to bed without her most nights and she had convinced herself it was just a season. That season had been three years.
We built her a real plan. She hired. She stopped being the bottleneck. She got her evenings back. And her business did not fall apart. It grew.
That is the moment I do this for. When someone who has been holding everything together finally puts something down and realizes the whole thing does not collapse.
Ten years in. That moment still gets me.

These are not unicorns.
They are talented Realtors who were either drowning in the chaos or lying awake in January wondering where next year's business was coming from. Sound familiar? Good. Keep reading.
